Position: Part-time Housekeeper Work Location: Holy Family Retreat House, 121 Victoria St RR#1, Harrow, ON N0R 1G0 Commitment: approximately 10 hours per week – hours are flexible. Typical workdays are Mondays and Tuesdays. Must be available to work other days throughout the week based on business needs. Hours may increase during busy periods. Compensation: Expected salary range $17.60/hour to $19.50/hour. 4% vacation pay for hours worked. Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. Placement within this range is commensurate with relevant industry experience, qualifications (education, skills) and/or professional designations. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of the Holy Family Retreat House, the Housekeeper is responsible for a variety of duties related to cleaning, laundry, and ironing for retreatants' rooms and suites. The Housekeeper performs general cleaning and sanitation tasks as required to ensure all areas of the retreat centre are clean, organized, welcoming, and well maintained. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Follows the daily duty schedule and ensures all responsibilities are performed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Collects, sorts, and launders bed linens, towels, curtains, chapel linens, and cleaning cloths in accordance with fabric care guidelines and washing machine instructions.
Irons linens and other items as required.
Launders mattress pads and bedspreads in accordance with the annual cleaning schedule.
Maintains an appropriate inventory of linens and disposes of worn or damaged items as required.
Reports unsafe conditions, property damage, or broken equipment to the Director.
Receives and signs for housekeeping and laundry-related supplies and deliveries.
Delivers clean and/or soiled bed linens, towels, cleaning cloths, and other laundry items to appropriate locations.
Performs general housekeeping duties in retreatant facilities, including bedrooms, washrooms, kitchenettes, lounges, conference rooms, the dining room, and offices.
Performs other related duties, as assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of secondary school grade 12 diploma or Ontario accepted equivalent.
3-5 years of relevant Housekeeping service in the hospitality industry.
Professional, pleasant, courteous and welcoming disposition.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Works well independently with minimum supervision and in a team.
Responds promptly to guest needs.
Good attendance and punctuality.
Demonstrated knowledge of the proper and safe operation of laundry equipment, including washing machines, dryers, clothing irons, and sewing machines.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements and standards applicable to the hospitality industry.
Performs physical motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs as well as safely lift and carry objects of up to 25 kg.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London and the Holy Family Retreat House.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
