Position: Part-time Housekeeper – LaSalle River Canard Catholic Family of Parishes Primary location: Sacred Heart Parish, 1425 Divine Street, LaSalle, ON Commitment: maximum of 18 hours per week (flexibility to work varying days and/or hours based on business needs is required. Hours of work per week may vary depending on occupancy of the rectory.) Compensation Range: Expected salary range: $18.82 to $23.00 per hour. POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Business Manager, the Housekeeper/Cook completes basic cleaning for the residence of the priests of the LaSalle River Canard Catholic Family of Parishes. The Housekeeper/Cook will also assist with meal preparation. This position works primarily at the Sacred Heart Parish rectory, however, could be scheduled to work similar duties at any of the buildings within the Family of Parishes.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Performs regular household weekly cleaning of the residence including but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, mopping of floors, collecting and emptying of trash and recycling, disinfecting of bathrooms (sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, etc.).
Performs periodic cleaning on a monthly and/or as needed basis, including but not limited to: cleaning of exhaust fans, baseboards, door frames, ceilings, walls, cupboards, fridge, microwave, oven, other kitchen minor appliances, interior windows, mirrors, etc.
Changes bed sheets weekly and ensures all rooms are tidy and prepared.
Prepares 2-3 meals per week as agreed upon with the Pastor. Maintains a clean kitchen before, during and after food preparation.
Ensures that all food is properly stored and prepared in a safe and hygienic manner.
Monitors and reports needs regarding cleaning supplies, cooking items, minor repairs, equipment, appliance concerns, etc.
Works in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and any other legislation, regulations and company policies or practices.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Manager and/or Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in cleaning for domestic properties is preferred.
Prior experience with meal preparation and cooking for others is preferred.
Current certification (or willingness to obtain) in Safe Food Handling is required.
Working knowledge of and experience with the safe handling and proper use of household cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Adept at multi-tasking and organizing effectively to ensure timely completion of a number of tasks in a short period of time.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with excellent attention to detail regarding cleanliness.
Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks in an efficient and safe manner.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours based on the needs of parish, which may include weekends and/or evenings.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
Note: All new staff are required to complete on-line mandatory training available in English or French. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
