POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Pastor, the Communications Lead supports the mission of the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes by overseeing the creation, coordination, and distribution of all parish communications. The role manages communication channels, develops mission aligned content, and ensures clear and consistent messaging across digital and print platforms. The Communications Lead works closely with staff and volunteers to promote parish programs, services, and events, and may assist‑aligned content, and ensures clear and consistent messaging across digital and print platforms. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the timely creation, posting, and updating of all social media communications for the Family of Parishes, including but not limited to: Facebook, X, livestream platforms, etc.
Collaborates with the Data Recorder to ensure accurate and up to‑to‑date website content.
Creates, edits, and distributes parish communications such as the family bulletin, email announcements, pamphlets, signage, podcasts, articles, and newsletters.
Ensures all communications reflect consistent messaging, tone, and branding aligned with the mission of the Family of Parishes and the Diocese of London.
Consults and coordinates with the parish secretary and other staff regarding communication needs, workflow, and project timelines.
Assists parish staff and clergy by providing basic IT, communications, and social media‑mediarelated technical support as required‑related technical support as required.
Designs and produces digital and print materials for parish events, announcements, and ministry activities.
Supports staff and ministry leaders in promoting programs, events, and initiatives to ensure accurate and timely public communication.
Maintains communication archives and ensures media assets (photos, videos, templates) are organized and easily accessible.
Coordinates livestreaming schedules and communication of online Masses or events as needed.
Performs general office administrative tasks related to communications, event promotion, scheduling, content preparation, etc.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A post‑secondary degree or diploma in a related field (communications, marketing, public relations) or 2+ years of relevant communications or social media work experience is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.).
Ability to quickly learn and use new software/systems: Canva, DDMS, VOIP Phone System, Ministry Scheduler Pro (MSP), eCatholic (website), etc.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of basic office workflow and use of equipment such as printers and folder machines.
Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with pastoral staff, administration staff, parishioners and volunteers.
High aptitude for detail and accuracy.
High level of integrity, discretion, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote its mission is required.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
