Position: Youth Coordinator. This position is currently vacant. Work Location: Lasalle River Canard Catholic Family of Parishes, with offices at St. Joseph Parish, River Canard, 9399 Townline Road in Windsor, Ontario Commitment: 20 hours a week. Flexibility to work one or two evenings a week and the occasional weekend to address pastoral needs is required in this position. Compensation: Expected wage range: $23.36 - $27.44 per hour. This position is eligible for participation in the lay staff benefits plan and pension program. Posting Date: February 6, 2026 Closing Date: February 20, 2026 POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Pastor, the Youth Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering the Catholic faith within young people and their families. This position involves planning, coordinating, and leading various programs and activities that promote spiritual growth and community engagement. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Pastor, Associate Pastor, pastoral team, staff, volunteers, and diocesan representatives to support the liturgical, sacramental, and communal life of the parish, with a strong focus on the youth.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Develop and implement programs and activities for students in elementary and high school to encourage their spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing, helping them grow in faith while having fun.
Develop and implement programs and activities to foster relationships with young people and their families, including follow-up initiatives after sacraments, Vacation Bible School and other family-centered faith formation opportunities.
Maintain effective communication via social media and parish bulletins.
Be present at weekend liturgies as assigned.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, Youth Ministry, or equivalent post-secondary education (completed, in progress, or willing to acquire).
Strong consideration is given to individuals with prior experience working with youth and families.
Active and practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with a strong faith commitment and dedication to Gospel values.
A Pastor’s letter of recommendation is required.
Previous experience in youth ministry or parish volunteer work is a substantial asset.
Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
A valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation for travel within the Family of Parishes and throughout the Diocese as required. Attendance at all Diocesan Orientation sessions during the first year of ministry is required.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a parish and pastoral team setting.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings. Work hours and conditions will allow for a flexible schedule as mutually agreed upon with the Pastor.
Commitment to personal and spiritual growth.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate. This position will require a Vulnerable Sector police check.
Note: All new staff are required to complete on-line mandatory training available in English or French. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
