Position: 18-month full-time contract – Lay Ecclesial Minister – Windsor-Lake St. Clair Catholic Family of Parishes Primary Work Location: Ste. Anne’s Church Office, 12233 Tecumseh Rd E, Windsor, ON N8N 1M3 Commitment: 18-month fixed term contract for maternity leave coverage. Start date ASAP. 25-30 hours per week. Flexibility to work evening hours and/or on the weekend to address pastoral needs is required in this position. Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. Posting Date: December 10, 2025 Closing Date: December 24, 2025 POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Pastor, or designate, the Lay Ecclesial Minister (LEM) plays a vital role in fostering evangelization, discipleship, and the Catholic faith within the Family of Parishes. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading outreach and evangelization initiatives, faith formation opportunities, sacramental preparation, and pastoral ministry. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and diocesan representatives to support the liturgical, sacramental, and community life of the parishes. This position requires a strong missionary heart, a commitment to intentional accompaniment, and a desire to inspire parishioners to grow as mission-oriented disciples of Jesus Christ.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Coordinate, plan, and support outreach ministry to the homebound and those residing in long-term care facilities, ensuring ongoing pastoral connection and accompaniment.
Develop and oversee parish ministry initiatives for seniors, including pastoral care, faith formation opportunities, and community-building activities.
Coordinate and facilitate the parish baptismal preparation program, accompanying families through formation, preparation, and celebration.
Plan and support ministry for young children (Grade One and younger), including early-childhood faith formation opportunities, parent engagement, and parish-based activities.
Coordinate the parish Care Calls program, ensuring consistent pastoral outreach, follow-up, and support for parishioners in need.
Organize and oversee parish hospitality initiatives such as monthly soup socials and parish cafés, fostering community life and parish engagement.
Ensure compliance with the Safe Environment Policy and other related diocesan policies as required for all ministry areas.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers involved in related ministry programs.
Assist with ministry events, parish life activities, and weekend liturgies as assigned.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Pastor and/or Business Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Certificate in Pastoral Ministry and/or a Bachelor of Arts or Master’s degree in Pastoral / Lay Ecclesial Ministry or Religious Studies, or willingness to obtain one.
Strong consideration given to individuals with experience in parish ministry, outreach, or working directly with seniors, children, and families. Previous experience in parish volunteer work is an asset.
Must be an active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with a strong faith commitment and adherence to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
A current letter of recommendation from the Pastor of your registered parish is required with the application.
Good working knowledge of the evangelizing mission of the Church and a desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Leadership qualities with strong organizational and teaching skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers effectively.
Commitment to personal and spiritual growth.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends; scheduling will be arranged in consultation with the Pastor.
A valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Fluency in French is considered an asset.
A minimum of three references will be requested from candidates selected for an interview.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
A vulnerable sector police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required. Note: All new staff are required to complete online mandatory training available in English or French. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
