Position: Casual Cook – St. Simon St. Jude Parish Hall – Windsor - Lake St. Clair Catholic Family of Parishes Primary Work Location: St. Simon St. Jude Parish Hall, 267 Meunier Street, Belle River, ON Commitment: No minimum guarantee of hours. Hours are casual in nature and are based on business needs. Compensation: $18/hour, 4% vacation pay Posting Date: November 5, 2025 Closing Date: November 12, 2025 POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Hall Manager, the casual Cook at St. Simon St. Jude Parish Hall within the Windsor – Lake St. Clair Catholic Family of Parishes ensures the timely, safe and delicious preparations of meals for event guests visiting the hall. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Prepares and cooks menu items according to established recipes and standards.
Ensures all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations.
Adapts recipes to accommodate food allergies, sensitivities, and/or dietary restrictions.
Assists with meal preparation and plating for service.
Collaborates with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
Maintains cleanliness, sanitization and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment.
Monitors inventory levels and assists with ordering supplies as needed.
Adheres to proper food handling techniques to minimize waste and ensure safety and quality.
Stays current with food trends, nutrition, and culinary techniques.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Hall Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Culinary training or certification from a recognized institution is an asset.
Food Handler (Safety) Certification is required.
Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a restaurant or large kitchen environment is preferred.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
Strong knowledge of and ability to accommodate dietary needs (e.g., high-calorie meals, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.).
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
A passion for the food industry and commitment to providing exceptional service.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional demeanor and a respectful, service-oriented approach.
Ability and willingness to work flexible working hours based on event schedules, including weekends and evenings.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
