Position: Full-time Bookkeeper - London South Catholic Family of Parishes Work Location: Hybrid – primary work location will be St. Francis St. Martin Parish at 46 Cathcart Street in London, Ontario with the option to work some hours remotely. Commitment: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including the ability to work some evenings and/or weekends to attend meetings as required. Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. This position is eligible for participation in the Diocese of London’s lay staff benefit and pension plans. POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Business Manager, the Bookkeeper for the London South Catholic Family of Parishes is responsible for managing the parish finances and financial processes for the three parishes of the Family. The Bookkeeper performs a variety of bookkeeping, finance, and administrative support-based tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for the parishes and compliance with Diocesan policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Manages the full-cycle bookkeeping process for each parish within the Family of Parishes.
Processes day-to-day transactions including A/R, A/P, payroll, and banking.
Reconciles bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
Responsible for cash management of Sunday offertory, donations, and special events and ensures that the processing, including the banking, is handled in accordance with Diocesan guidelines.
Maintains the parish offering system and records donations in DDMS (Diocesan Data Management System).
Provides support for audits and budgets and year end closing procedures.
Processes all charitable receipts, PSB rebates, income tax receipts, T4As, ROEs, government remittances and annual charity returns.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Pastor/ Business Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting and/or equivalent experience.
2 or more years of hands-on experience working in an accounting function, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
Proficient in the Microsoft 365 suite of products.
Prior experience working with ADP Payroll systems and Sage Intacct software is an asset.
Self-motivated and proactive with excellent time management skills.
Proven ability to effectively multi-task, properly prioritize and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with good problem-solving skills.
Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to ensure and maintain confidentiality.
Willingness to support the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of London and the London South Catholic Family of Parishes.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
